No 504 (County of Nottingham) Squadron

We are based at RAF Cottesmore. The Squadron's role is to provide a reservoir of manpower trained in the "Survive to Operate" role and in trades to support the Royal Air Force during contingency force, peace-keeping, humanitarian and disaster relief operations.

Personnel become skilled in using a range of support weapons, infantry tactics, first aid, protection against chemical attack and decontamination of personnel and equipment. They also maintain technical equipment, and train as chefs and clerks.

No 2503 (County of Lincoln) Squadron

The role of No 2503 Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force Regiment is to provide a sustainment capability to the regular RAF Regiment Field Squadrons.

No 7006 (VR) Intelligence Squadron

The Squadron's role is to provide trained Intelligence personnel to support the Royal Air Force's Intelligence organisation in times of national crisis or war.

No 7010 (VR) Photographic Interpretation Squadron

The squadron's role is to provide operational Imagery Analysis (IA) support to the Royal Air Force.

 

 


As a member of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force, you will be required to train and work with regular RAF counterparts, both in the UK and abroad. You will qualify for pay and allowances whenever you attend for duty. The rates of pay are dependant on rank and are similar to those of the RAF. There is also an annual tax free bounty payment, which increases with the number of years service, for those who fulfil the official commitment.

You are required to record a minimum of 27 training days per year, up to 15 days of which could be spent on annual camp. The routine commitment is one weekend a month and one evening per week.
